In today’s fast life, people don’t have time for self-care. Most commonly in metros, their day start early and end very late leaving people to go for readily available options in all walks of life, it may food, anything for their lifestyle. Such stressful life is affecting their mental & physical health. Knowingly- unknowingly they are ignoring nutrition which is affecting their health.
Since, we also stayed in metro cities like, Bangalore and Delhi for many years, we also faced this problem of no time for self-care, ignoring family and health. When I try recollecting my pregnancy & post-delivery days, there was nobody to help and take care of my health & nutrition. This I noticed with almost every woman living in the metros especially working women. Both the parents are working and so they are always under tremendous stress in fulfilling responsibility towards family and office.
This thought made me to think about improving nutrition in our regular diet, like, what should be added in their daily diet which can fulfill their health requirements. When I think of my mother and most of the other aged women in our society, all of them still taking good care of their family but ignoring their own health & nutrition. We all know that in India, every woman irrespective of her age is the first one in the whole of the family who wakes up first in the morning and continuously work until all work is finished and goes to bed in the last.
When I look at my kids, they love eating junk food & they want it all the time and this we can see with all the kids in every family in India. Obesity in kids is becoming a major problem in India and worldwide. It is important that their dose of junk food should decrease by supplementing their diet with some ready-to-eat nutrition.
All these common but serious issues made me to think about what can be prepared other than the regular food from which they get rich nutritious high protein diet giving their body high level of energy and also improving their immune system. And most importantly ….which can be eaten daily.
I started exploring our traditional recipes of my childhood time which were then part of regular diet in every home and started collecting experience of peoples who are familiar with such nutritious foods. In the process, I found that taste was one of the reasons for people moved to alternate foods, especially kids & youngsters. In all these traditional recipes primary motive was nutrition but not… the taste.
This pushed me to start experimenting with the ingredients in traditional recipes. I experimented with those recipes and offered new recipe with improved taste to my family & friends and collected their experience and again modified the recipe by re-proportioning the ingredients.
I found it very interesting and motivating that my own kids started eating & loving the taste of traditional foods served in a new presentation style. I gave each recipe a unique name according to the benefits derived from each recipe fulfilling different needs of all different peoples.
